WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Army West Point Rifle Team suffered its first conference (Great America Rifle Conference) loss following a 4732-4690 defeat to No. 3-ranked Kentucky Saturday at Tronsrue Marksmanship Center in opening the second half of its schedule.
The Black Knights (5-2, 2-1 GARC), leading in smallbore heading into the standing position, were outpointed 2348-2328 in that discipline with the Wildcats (7-1) posting a 2384-2362 decision in air rifle to claim the victory. Army's 4690 aggregate is tied for its second-highest of the season.
Sophomore Chris Jennings was runner-up in smallbore with a career-high 589, just two points off Kentucky's Sofia Ceccarello's winning mark of 591.
