The Arkansas State men's basketball team did what it could to keep its season -- and the tenure of Coach John Brady -- going Saturday.
Playing a regular season finale in which it needed to win to reach the Sun Belt Conference Tournament, ASU led for most of the first half and part of the second, but made just one shot over the final 2 1/2 minutes as Appalachian State pulled away for an 80-73 victory at the Holmes Convocation Center in Boone, N.C.
A victory would have qualified ASU for the Sun Belt Tournament as the No.
