Arkansas Football Player Suspended For Allegedly Stealing From Bowl Sponsor Belk

The Arkansas Razorbacks are preparing to take on Virginia Tech in the Belk Bowl, but they will be without star tight end Jeremy Sprinkle, who has been suspended - after being accused of attempting to steal from Belk, according to SEC Country.

“Jeremy’s suspension has been known by our staff and players for several days so we’ve had a chance to prepare our game plan accordingly,” coach Bret Bielema said in a press release. “Throughout his career and this season as a graduate student-athlete, Jeremy has displayed numerous times the qualities we want to represent our program. We have standards within our family that must be upheld on a daily basis and unfortunately he failed to do that in the last week. Jeremy’s suspension isn’t drug, alcohol or violence related but one that will cause him to miss his final game as a Razorback.”

Players from both teams participating in the bowl received a $450 gift card to shop at Belk, and Sprinkle reportedly tried to take more than that allotted amount. Each player also received a Fossil watch.

Police were not dispatched to deal with the matter, but the school decided the incident was enough to warrant a suspension. Sprinkle is also a senior, so his career for the Razorbacks is done.

The 6-foot-6, 256-pounder caught 33 passes for 380 yards and four touchdowns this season. He is projected to be a mid-round pick in the NFL Draft.
