On Wednesday, the St. Louis Cardinals made Alex Mejia the third member of the Arizona Wildcats’ 2012 National Championship team to reach the Major Leagues when they purchased his contract from Triple-A Memphis.

Three days later, in his second start, Mejia joined Rob Refsnyder and Joey Rickard in the hit column, notching his first base knock in the second inning of Saturday’s game against the Washington Nationals.
