Arizona Wildcats escape winless Santa Clara 75-73 in overtime

FULLERTON, Calif. – The Arizona Wildcats probably knew they were in for trouble at some point during the Wooden Legacy this weekend.

But not this kind of trouble.

Eleventh ranked Arizona shot poorly, played shaky defense and barely hung on to overcome Santa Clara scoring machine Jared Brownridge (44 points) and winless Santa Clara 75-73 in overtime of Thursday’s final first-round game at the Wooden Legacy tournament at Cal State Fullerton’s Titan Gym.

What’s more, the Wildcats may have lost center Kaleb Tarczewski again to an ankle sprain, after Tarczewski appeared to re-injure his ankle late in the second half after playing the best game of his season to date.
