The Arizona baseball team is headed back to the postseason for the first time since winning the College World Series in 2012.
The Wildcats are the No. 2 seed in the NCAA Tournament’s Lafayette, Louisiana, regional. Louisiana Lafayette is the host school. Arizona (38-20) will face Sam Houston State (41-20) in the first game of the regional at 11 a.m. MST Friday.
Lafayette (41-19) will face Princeton (24-19) in Game 2. Each of the 16 regionals features four teams and a double-elimination format.
Arizona qualified for the tournament in its first season under Jay Johnson, who took over after longtime coach Andy Lopez retired.
