Arizona loses LB Cody Ippolito to torn ACL

Arizona linebacker Cody Ippolito has torn his ACL and will be out for the season for the second time in three years. Ippolito’s injury was announced by Wildcats coach Rich Rodriguez, who expressed his disappointment.

“Cody was having a really good camp and he’s a tough, hard-nosed football player,” Rodriguez said. “He loves to compete and loves to practice, so I was really disappointed for him. He’ll rehab like crazy after surgery, and hopefully we’ll get him back for another year or two playing at a high level.”

Fortunately, because of his missing two seasons due to injury, Ippolito should have no problem getting fifth and sixth years of eligibility from the NCAA due to medical hardship.
