Arizona baseball: Lopez, who led team to 2012 title, retires

The Andy Lopez era is finished at Arizona.

The UA's longtime baseball coach announced his retirement early Monday via a university news release.

Lopez, who has been the Arizona coach since 2002, will move on from coaching after missing the postseason the past three years. The Wildcats wrapped up their season Sunday with a win over Hawaii at Hi Corbett Field. Lopez's final UA team went 30-24 overall and 12-18 in Pac-12 play.

The season fell well below Lopez's high standards. He won the 2012 College World Series with the Wildcats, the second of his career.
