The NCAA promises changes to college basketball, but will it matter?

SAN ANTONIO – Monday night’s national championship will end one of the better NCAA Tournaments in recent memory, but the drama won’t end at the final buzzer.

College basketball is broken.

An FBI investigation into the sport’s recruiting practices have crippled several programs, including the University of Arizona. Those inside and outside the sport continue to question the NCAA’s amateur model, insisting its restrictions on student-athletes are cruel and unjust.

Basketball’s so-called one-and-done rule, which lets players leave school to enter the NBA draft after one year, is under fire.
