TEMPE, Ariz. – Before she ever steps onto the diving board for an official competition as a Sun Devil, Arizona State freshman Ashley McCool has had plenty of national and international experience as part of the Canadian Junior National Team.
Over the next several days, she will participate in the 1-meter and 3-meter springboard at the World University Games in Taipei, Taiwan. The games span from Aug. 19-30 and feature 22 different sports as well as an opening and closing ceremonies and athlete's village, similar to the Olympics.
McCool is the youngest competitor in both events and she and her fellow Canadian teammates will compete against athletes from 17 other countries including North Korea, South Korea, Japan, Ukraine, Mexico, Russia, USA, Brazil, Australia, Germany, Philippines, Romania, Italy, Lithuania, Ireland, Sweden, Taiwan.
