Sun Devil Head men's tennis coach Matt Hill has announced his first signee, as Benjamin Hannestad will join the team in January of 2017, redshirt this season and compete for Arizona State in its return to NCAA men's tennis in the 2017-18 season.
Hannestad, who is from Vedbaek, Denmark, and is currently training in Bradenton, Fla. at IMG Academy, is ranked No. 45 in the world on the ITF Junior Circuit. Playing tennis since he was five years old and coached by Jorge Gonzalez at IMG, the right-hander played in the 2016 Davis Cup and defeated George Tsivadze of Georgia in March.
