IRVINE, Calif.—Four members of Arizona State’s No. 1-ranked incoming wrestling class were named to the 30th annual ASICS Boys All-America Wrestling Team, ASICS announced on Wednesday.
Zahid Valencia (Bellflower, Calif./St. John Bosco) earned his third selection to the ASICS All-America First Team, representing 182 pounds. In 2014, Valencia earned First-Team recognition at 132 pounds, and in 2012 he became the first-ever freshman to earn First-Team honors at 106 pounds.
Also earning ASICS First-Team recognition was Lance Benick (Fridley, Minn./Totino-Grace) at 195 pounds. Benick is a two-time honoree at 195 pounds, and is one of two first-teamers to finish their high school careers with four state titles.
