PITTSBURGH – During a handful of opportunities with runners in scoring position over the weekend in St. Louis, the Diamondbacks’ Yasmany Tomas looked like a different hitter.
Rather than swinging away at the first pitches he saw regardless of whether they were strikes, Tomas was far more patient. His results were mixed – he drove in a run on a single, walked and bounced out twice – but the at-bats seemed to indicate some signs of progress.
Tomas, speaking through an interpreter, hopes that’s the case.
“I’m trying to make good selections with pitches,” he said.
