Diamondbacks Rumors: Aaron Hill to be traded? Martin Prado?

In today's Diamondbacks rumors and news update, the Arizona Diamondbacks are aggressively shopping second baseman Aaron Hill before the deadline. However, third baseman Martin Prado looks to be off limits.

According to Jon Heyman of CBS Sports, "the Diamondbacks have already made two trades but seem reluctant to trade from its core, not only untouchable Paul Goldschmidt but also shortstop Chris Owings, catcher Miguel Montero and pitcher Wade Miley. Prado is close to that category, as well, it seems."

Hill, however, is not. After a career season just two years back, Hill has slipped to a .251 average with eight home runs and 49 RBIs. Prado isn't faring much better exactly (.274, four home runs, 37 RBIs), but his ability to be slotted in at several spots on the diamond increases his value in the eyes of DBacks management.

Prado's salary ($26 million through 2016) and Hill's salary ($28 million through 2016) are comparable, making a possible decision of one over the other simply a matter of expected value.
