For Christian Kirk, the call was full circle. For Chase Edmonds, it was a testament to all he had proven at a smaller school.
Kirk, a wide receiver picked in the second round, and Edmonds, a fourth-round running back, both feel ready to make an impact in their debut seasons. The expectations from coach Steve Wilks reflect that.
"I'm expecting a lot out of those guys this year," Wilks said in August. "Their approach — they're not rookies in how they come to work each and every day."
On top of their own preparation, Edmonds and Kirk are in a great learning environment in their first year in the league.
