Cards GM Keim learned lessons in 1st 2 drafts

Since childhood, Steve Keim could talk about the NFL draft year-round.

He memorized the information in draft magazines when he should have been studying science and math. The devotion paid off for Keim.

First, he became a scout for the Cardinals and then two years ago was promoted to general manager. This week's draft will be the third he's overseen, and he's learned one important thing from the first two. Talk less. Listen more.

"You have a lot of different opinions in the room that matter," he said. "So not only do Coach (Bruce Arians) and I have a lot of conversations about individual players, but we have to listen to what our coaches have to say, what our staff has to say.
