COLUMBIA, S.C. –– Appalachian State University women's track and field finished up day one at the Weems Baskin Invitational at South Carolina on Friday.
The Mountaineers were led by Samantha Welborn who finished first in the javelin with a throw of 110-11 feet. Jessica Ricks finished fifth with a throw of 102-11.
Chelsey Hargrave finished fourth in the long jump with a distance of 19-9.50 feet. K'Lynn Beal took 10th with a jump of 18-3.75 feet. In the 5,000-meter run, Madison Simmons finished fifth with a time of 19:22.
