App State Football Notebook: May 24

BOONE, N.C. – The Sun Belt Conference announced on Monday that the league will split into two divisions for football beginning in 2018.

Appalachian State will be joined by rival Georgia Southern, Coastal Carolina, Troy, and Georgia State in the East Division, while Arkansas State, Louisiana, ULM, South Alabama, and Texas State comprise the west.

The winners of each division will meet in the championship game. The game will be played at the home stadium of the divisional winner that has the best ranking in the College Football Playoff (CFP) poll. Idaho and New Mexico State leave the Sun Belt following the 2017 season.
