Spang Named American Women’s Golf Player of the Week

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – East Carolina senior Frida Gustafsson Spang was tabbed the American Women's Golf Player of the Week, the conference announced on Wednesday. Spang earned medalist honors for the second consecutive week after winning the Briar's Creek Invitational.

Spang captured her sixth career title with an 8-under 208 at the Briar's Creek Invitational Mar. 21-22 in Johns Island, South Carolina. The win set a new school record for career individual titles (six). Spang also set a new ECU single-season record for wins with three. The senior, who was tied for third entering final round play on Tuesday, is now ranked eighth nationally in the GolfStat standings.
