IRVING, Texas – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly men’s basketball honors for the seventh week of the season.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Zhuric Phelps, So., G, SMU
Phelps helped lead the Mustangs to the championship game of the Diamond Head Classic in Honolulu, averaging 19.7 points, 5.7 rebounds and 3.0 assists in three games. He scored 20 points in a win over Iona and recorded 19 points and eight rebounds in the semifinal win over Utah State.
FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
Emanuel Sharp, G, Houston
Sharp had his best game in a Cougar uniform, scoring 18 points on 6-of-10 shooting from 3-point range against McNeese on Wednesday.
