Avery Johnson, the new head basketball coach at the University of Alabama, delivered on his first promise on Friday night — and even the visiting coach noticed.
“They were a little more up-tempo than we expected from watching last year’s videotape,” Trevecca Nazarene coach Sam Harris said in one of the understatements of the early season.
The Crimson Tide overwhelmed the Trojans, 87-65, in an exhibition game at Coleman Coliseum, pushing the tempo early and then taking advantage of a size advantage against the Division II opponents.
