4 Falcons players especially interested in SEC championship game

FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga — Forgive four Atlanta Falcons players if they’re a little antsy about what happens in the Georgia Dome on Saturday afternoon. It’s not because the Falcons take on the Chiefs there on Sunday but more to do with the 25th SEC championship game.

Each of the quartet played in the title game — two for Alabama and two for Florida. To further the connection, each played against the other team.

Wide receiver Julio Jones was at Alabama from 2008-10, and linebacker Courtney Upshaw played for the Tide from 2008-11. Each was 1-1 against the Gators in the SEC championship game, falling as part of the nation’s top-ranked team in ’08 but upsetting the top-ranked Gators in ’09.
