AKRON, Ohio – The No. 16 Akron Zips concluded the 2017 season with a sixth-place finish at the Great America Rifle Conference (GARC) Championships on Saturday at the Louis and Freda Stile Athletics Field House.
Defending national champion West Virginia claimed its eighth consecutive (and 12th overall) conference team title with a 4725 combined score. Nebraska (4679) followed with Kentucky (4667) taking third. Akron had a combined score of 4630.
In the air rifle competition, the Mountaineers shot a 2384 for first place. Nebraska (2376) followed by eight points, and Kentucky was third (2361).
