Miami Uses Late Run to Defeat Akron, 77-64

OXFORD, Ohio – The Akron Zips never recovered from Miami's 9-0 run, resulting in a 77-64 setback on Tuesday at Millett Hall. The Zips fell to 21-7 overall and 10-5 in Mid-American Conference play while the RedHawks improved to 10-18 and 4-11 in league play.

The back-and-forth battle featured 13 lead changes and nine stalemates before Miami broke a 50-50 tie at the 8:35 mark. The RedHawks surged for nine-straight points over four minutes, extending the lead to 59-50 until the 4:39 mark when UA's Antino Jackson (Houston, Texas) finished at the rim. Miami quickly responded and pushed the lead to 11 points, 65-54, with 2:03 left to play.
