Despite being in the hunt for a MAC tournament birth until the final two games, the 2016 Akron women's soccer season came to an early end after its final regular season contest against Buffalo on Oct. 27.
Akron returned a core group of leaders, including seniors Abby Gindlesberger (Canton, Ohio), Annabelle Hegeman (Frostburg, Md), Sarah Sivic (Broadview Heights, Ohio), Madison Kaser (Silver Lake, Ohio), Karin Norman (Stocksund, Sweden) and Hannah Werth (Bloomington, Md.) in addition to an incoming class of 11 true freshman and two international transfers.
