TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- Florida State coach Jimbo Fisher said Thursday quarterback Everett Golson gave the Seminoles the best chance to beat NC State. It took him a little more than a quarter to reverse course.
With 7:32 left in the second quarter, Fisher inserted Sean Maguire at quarterback, and he promptly led scoring drives on his first four possessions to turn a 17-7 deficit into a 27-7 lead. Maguire, who started the previous two games, helped the offense earn some fluidity and he made several critical throws under pressure to lead No. 16 Florida State (8-2, 6-2) ACC to a 34-17 comeback win over NC State (6-4, 2-4).
