Prior to co-founding Chat Sports, James worked for Verizon Wireless as a Product Manager. Focusing on Verizon's wireless internet and smartphone product development, James has vast experience at the forefront of mobile industry technology. Prior to Verizon, he worked for the college sports giant, Rivals.com. Working as a staff writer for Rivals, James was immersed in covering NCAA athletics and recruiting.
James graduated with a degree in Business Management from the University of Toledo. His favorite sports moment was attending the 1997 Michigan vs. Ohio State football game with his father in which Michigan capped a perfect season by beating the rival Buckeyes.
Prior to joining Chat Sports, Brett worked at Deloitte Consulting, focusing on revenue growth and enterprise cost reduction projects as a Strategy and Operations Consultant. Serving as a trusted advisor to a variety of clients seeking to implement growth initiatives, Brett gained vast experiences in financial and customer analytics and process design and implementation.
Brett was a four-year letter-winner in baseball at Kansas State University, where he earned his B.S., majoring in finance. As a member of the baseball team, Brett twice earned academic All-American honors from ESPN the Magazine and was a finalist for the 2008 Lowe's Senior CLASS Award. Other than the moments Brett had while playing baseball at K-State, his favorite sports moment was attending K-State's 35-7 thrashing of Oklahoma in the 2003 Big 12 championship game.
Born and raised outside of Austin, TX, Rob grew up living the country life and discovered computers and programming at an early age. He trained extensively in the martial arts from early childhood through the beginning of college, even competing at the national level in the AAU Junior Olympics. He attended Northwestern University in Evanston, IL, and received his B.S. in Computer Science, with a second major in Philosophy. After graduation, Rob worked as a web developer for the Northwestern School of Communication. In 2010 he embarked on a semester long outdoor skills and leadership course in northern India with the National Outdoor Leadership School, eventually returning to the US to work at Reuseit. Rob traveled extensively across India and the US before settling in the Bay Area.
Rob’s favorite sports moment was being in Mumbai during India's victory over Pakistan during the 2011 cricket world cup.
Prior to joining Chat Sports, Tony was a PIMP in Cleveland, OH. Tony worked as a web developer & internet marketer while also building his own startup ideas. He knew he wanted to be embedded in the fast paced startup scene so he moved to San Francisco, met James, and joined Chat Sports. After moving to San Francisco in early 2012, Tony joined Chat Sports as our first employee and lead developer. He enjoys tackling complex problems, learning new technologies and has a passion for building recommendation algorithms.
Tony graduated from Kent State University with a degree in Computer Information Systems. His favorite sports moments include Josh Cribbs' seemingly impossible 100 yard kickoff return against the Steelers and LeBron James fade-away 3-pointer at the buzzer 2009 Eastern Conference Finals against the Magic. This, of course was followed by his least favorite moment a year later.
Prior to Chat Sports, Ricky worked for ExxonMobil and the Ometz Group as a web developer. Ricky was born and raised in Brazil.
Ricky graduated from Universidade Federal do Paraná in Brazil. His favorite sports moment is when Coritiba beat Atlético 3-1 in the Finals of Paranaense Championship. He is excited for the 2014 World Cup to be held in his hometown.
Alex is a graduate of the University of California, Berkeley where he studied Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. He previously worked at Sugar, Inc.
His favorite sport moments include Michael Phelps’ races and the gold medal Men’s Beach Volleyball match where Todd Rogers and Phil Dalhausser beat out Brazil at the 2008 Olympic Games. His fun fact is that he went to the same high school as the legendary volleyball player Karch Kiraly.
Prior to working at Chat Sports, Peter worked at Risk Management Solutions and Amazon Web Services, gaining valuable experience in both project management and software development.
Peter studied Computer Science at the University of California, Berkeley. His favorite sports moments include the poster-ization of Andrei Kirilenko by the Golden State Warriors' Baron Davis in the 2007 NBA playoffs and Manchester United defeating Chelsea in the 2008 Champions League Final, capping United's near-perfect double campaign.
Prior to joining Chat Sports, Roger was a sports writer and editor, with stories published in the Miami Herald, the Sacramento Bee, and the Boston Herald, among others.
A journalism graduate of Penn State University, Roger was a member of the Nittany Lions Fencing team that won back-to-back NCAA National Championships in 2009 and 2010. His favorite sports moment was watching the ‘We Believe’ Warriors upset the top-seeded Dallas Mavericks in the first round of the 2007 NBA playoffs.
Originally from Evanston, IL, Oliver has previously worked at Northwestern's Kellogg School of Management and as a TA in University of Pennsylvania’s computer science department. In addition to working at Chat Sports, Oliver is completing a dual-degree in Computer Science and Mathematics at University of Pennsylvania.
One of his favorite sports moments was when the Bulls’ Nazr Mohammed shoved LeBron to the ground in the 2013 NBA Playoffs, making the series slightly less depressing to watch.
Prior to co-founding Chat Sports, Nick was a Senior Staff Software Engineer at Motorola. He has extensive experience in embedded software architecture, design, and development for smart phones and other mobile devices. Nick has an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, a Master's degree in Computer Science from the University of Illinois at Urbana/Champaign and is a graduate of Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology with a B.S. double major in Mathematics and Computer Science.
Nick's favorite sports moment was watching the Green Bay Packers win Super Bowl XXXI. Nick is looking forward to Brett Favre's permanent retirement so Nick can again become a Favre fan.
In addition to being the Chairman of Chat Sports, John is the CEO and co-founder of Apartment List. Prior to co-founding Apartment List, John worked at TICC Capital, where he invested capital in internet companies and other technology-related firms. Prior to TICC, John was an investment banker at both Thomas Weisel Partners and KeyBanc Capital Markets. John is also the co-founder of Fernhurst Investments, LLC, an Ohio-based real estate investment firm. John graduated from Case Western Reserve University with a degree in Business Management and a concentration in Finance.
John's favorite sports moment was attending the 'Bugs' Indians vs. Yankees playoff game in 2007 at Progressive Field with his sister; the epic swarm of bugs that seized the mound fueled a late inning rally that helped the Indians to win the game and eventually take the series.
As the founder of Rothenberg Ventures, Mike is focused on investing in talented and passionate world-class founders. Additionally, Mike is a Harvard Business School alum and Director at Rothenberg Investments, where he manages private equity capital to invest in condos and land development in vibrant central Texas.
Prior to co-founding Apartment List, Chris spent several years as an investor, most recently with GTCR Golder Rauner, a Chicago-based private equity firm. Before that, he worked in the Merchant Banking division of Goldman Sachs. Chris is a co-founder and advisor to the 40 Acres Group, an Austin-based real estate investment firm that owns and operates a portfolio of student rental properties.
He is also a co-founder and board member of Philanthropedia, a new website that helps ordinary donors make smarter giving decisions. Chris has an MBA from Stanford University and a BBA from the University of Texas at Austin. Hook 'em Horns!
Todd is In-House Counsel and manages Athlete Negotiations for Genesco Sports Enterprises in Dallas, TX. Todd has managed, negotiated, and activated athlete endorsements for Genesco's impressive list of clients, including MillerCoors, PepsiCo, Frito Lay, Motorola, Verizon Wireless, Gerdau Ameristeel, and Campbell's Soup with athletes like Annika Sorenstam, Victor Cruz, Jennie Finch, Jerome Bettis, Emmitt Smith, Tony Dorsett, James Worthy, DeMarco Murray, Rafa Marquez, Troy Aikman, Joe Montana, Steve Young and all of the Coors Light Coaches.
Todd also serves on the Advisory Board for Prime Prep Academy, a new Charter School concept in the DFW area formed by Deion Sanders. Todd received his J.D. from Marquette University Law School and his B.B.A. in Finance from the University of Texas at Austin.
