After missing the last three games due to a stint on the Bereavement List, the Mets reinstated outfielder Starling Marte ahead of tonight’s game against the Cubs. In a subsequent move, infielder Mark Vientos was optioned to Triple-A Syracuse.
After a very down year in 2023, Marte has been off to a strong start in 2024, hitting .288./327/.442 with four home runs and four doubles in 25 games.
Vientos, in his three games, went three for seven with a game-winning home run in extra innings for the Mets’ sole victory against the Cardinals.
