After Day 1 of the 2024 NFL Draft, Detroit Lions general manager Brad Holmes told media he was shocked that Alabama cornerback Terrion Arnold was still on the board, which led them to the aggressive move of trading up five spots to draft him at 24th overall.

“We knew it was an offensive-heavy draft, that’s what we did know. But we didn’t quite know was that those defenders would get pushed to that point,” Holmes said. “Especially a guy like Terrion. But we couldn’t be more ecstatic or thrilled how it went.”

It turns out the Lions didn’t have to adjust their original plan too much.
