Red Sox acquire infielder Zach Short in trade with Mets

The Red Sox announced another trade on Wednesday, acquiring infielder Zach Short from the Mets for cash considerations. It’s already the fourth trade that chief baseball officer Craig Breslow has completed since the start of the 2024 season.

The team disclosed that with the completion of the deal, Boston’s 40-man roster is full.

Short, 28, has played in 187 games in his major league career. He has a career batting average of .172 with 13 home runs and 55 RBIs, most recently appearing in a game on April 21 before being designated for assignment by New York several days later on the 26th.
