After a seven seasons with the Dallas Cowboys, center Travis Frederick has announced his retirement from the National Football League. In a statement via his Twitter account, Fredrick detailed his reasoning for hanging it up after an incredibly strong career.
In his statement, Frederick discussed his journey with Guillain-Barre Syndrome, a rare neurological disorder in which the bodies immune system mistakenly attacks parts of the nervous system. Some cases of GBS can be mild, while some can lead to full paralyzation.
After missing all of the 2018 season, Frederick said the competitor in him had to return to the field.
