Eichorst out as Husker athletic director; Nebraska begins search for new AD

Change in the Nebraska athletic department arrived forcefully Thursday afternoon when the University of Nebraska-Lincoln announced it fired athletic director Shawn Eichorst.

The termination comes just five days after the Huskers football team lost at home to Northern Illinois and on the same day the Board of Regents held a campus visit in Omaha.

“Shawn has led Nebraska Athletics in many positive ways, but those efforts have not translated into on-field performance,” Chancellor Ronnie Green said in a statement.
