Veterinarian agrees to quit practice in latest discipline by regulatory body

A veterinarian with an extensive history of being disciplined by the profession’s provincial regulator will stop practicing next year.

Dr. Wenchao Zheng has agreed to stop practising veterinary medicine and retire on June 30, 2026, after he pleaded guilty to professional misconduct in front of the profession’s regulatory body earlier this year.

The Manitoba Veterinary Medical Association immediately and permanently banned Zheng from doing orthopedic surgeries in an order issued in September.

The regulator said his ability to properly conduct surgeries was inadequate, despite agreements he had made with the association, including to finish continuing education.
