The Washington Redskins hold the No. 21 overall pick after winning the NFC East last season, and are looking to a draft to help them fix the weaknesses they need to make a return trip to the postseason next year. Here's everything surrounding the Redskins you need to know:
Washington targeting safety in draft
The Redskins only have three safeties that are available to play in Duke Ihenacho, David Bruton Jr. and DeAngelo Hall currently on their roster. Head coach Jay Gruden admitted that their depth at the position is "a little challenging" right now, suggesting that they'll look to remaining free agents and to the draft to fix the problem. While they're unlikely to spend their first round pick on a safety, Ohio State's Vonn Bell is an option. If not, Duke's Jeremy Cash is someone that has drawn their attention.
Redskins looking at Andrew Billings in the first round?
Washington has placed a high priority on finding a defensive tackle in the draft with both Jason Hatcher and Terrance Knighton being free agents, making Baylor's Andrew Billings a good match for them in the first round, according to ESPN's Todd McShay:
Billings has a shorter frame (6-foot-1), but his outstanding combination of quickness, athleticism and power helps him wreak havoc on the interior. This is a dominant and versatile run-defender who would give the Redskins more depth along the defensive front. Additionally, with a need at center, I wouldn't be surprised if Scot McCloughan considered Alabama's Ryan Kelly here.
