Texans Leading Redskins 14-6 at Half

The Washington Redskins begin their 2o14 season in Houston, taking on the Texans.

A healthy RG3 and new addition DeSean Jackson are looking to spark the Redskins offense against a stout Houston defensive unit.

The offense started off slowly, unable to sustain any drives and picking up just one first down in the first quarter.

Luckily, the Redskins defense was just as good, shutting down Ryan Fitzpatrick and the Texans offense for a scoreless first quarter.

Washington had their best drive of the day going, but a sack took RG3 and the offense out of field goal range early in the second quarter.

The following drive Washington was in sync again, this time finishing off the possession with a one yard touchdown run by Darrel Young, putting them up 6-0 after Kai Forbath missed the extra point.

Houston answered with a 76 yard touchdown from Ryan Fitzpatrick to De'Andre Hopkins, giving the Texans a 7-6 lead late in the half.

Another special teams miscue gave Houston another touchdown on a blocked punt and score with just two minutes to go in the half, extending the lead to 14-6.

First-half MVP: Ryan Fitzpatrick (HOU) -6/11, 114 yards, one touchdown.

Second-half Prediction: It's only a missed extra point, but in a low scoring affair, it could prove costly. RG3 and the Redskins offense need to sustain more drives and keep from turning the ball over against a menacing Houston defense.
