Redskins Rumors: Redskins to sign free agent WR Austin Collie?

Redskins rumors have overseen a complete makeover of the Washington Redskins' wide receiving depth chart this offseason, with the much-hyped free agent signings of DeSean Jackson and Andre Roberts.

However, per Curtis Crabtree of Pro Football Talk, the Washington Redskins may not be done adding wide receivers via free agency this offseason: "Despite the new additions, the Redskins are still looking into free agent pass catchers. According to Howard Balzer of KSDK.com, former New England Patriots receiver Austin Collie had a tryout with the Redskins."

Austin Collie missed the entire 2012 NFL season due to injury before signing with the New England Patriots on a one-year deal in 2013. The former Indianapolis Colt played in seven games for the Patriots (one start), catching just six balls for 63 yards during the regular season.

Collie did, however, pick up five catches for 72 yards in two postseason appearances with the Patriots.

If Austin Collie is to sign with the Washington Redskins, he will most likely engage in a preseason battle just to pick up a roster spot -- as the Redskins' wide receiving corps now looks a lot more deep than it did prior to the beginning of the 2014 NFL free agency period.
