Rookie cornerback Bashaud Breeland did an admirable job against Dallas Cowboys wide receivers Dez Bryant and Terrance Williams during the Washington Redskins' 20-17 road victory in Arlington this past Monday night. He might have to wait to provide an encore to that impressive performance.

According to Josh Alper of NBC's Pro Football Talk, "coach Jay Gruden said, via Mike Jones of the Washington Post, that Breeland got his cleat caught in the grass during Friday’s practice and hurt his knee. Breeland is going to have an MRI so the team can assess the severity of the damage."

As Alper points out, injuries sustained to the knee without an initiation of contact tend to cost players more time than those caused by impact. If that proves true in Breeland's case, a promising rookie campaign might be put on hold for an extended amount of time.

The former Clemson Tigers standout saw his snap count increase after veteran corner DeAngelo Hall suffered a season-ending Achilles tear. He has acquitted himself well for a Redskins team looking to claw its way back into playoff contention.
