Redskins NFL Draft Rumors: Everything You Need To Know Heading Into This Week's NFL Draft

The 2015 NFL Draft is just a few days away, and there’s plenty of reason to be excited about the festivities in Chicago if you’re a Washington Redskins fan. Here’s our breakdown of everything Redskins fans need to know heading into draft week.

Would Redskins draft Marcus Mariota if available?

ESPN's John Clayton is one NFL analyst who seems to think so:

“Honestly, [people say Mariota] may fall to the Jets; he’s not gonna fall to the Jets at six, I’ll tell you this right now: the Redskins will take him at [No.] five. Dan Snyder may not think there’s quarterback issues; Jay Gruden and everybody else in the front office thinks there’s quarterback issues. And if Marcus Mariota falls to five – now it’s not a position where they’re desperate enough to trade up to get him – but if he falls to give, I’m telling you this right now, they’ll take him.”

While this goes against the conventional mode of thought surrounding the Redskins, it's at least something to keep an eye on if Mariota slides out of the top four.

RGIII Not Worried About Mariota, Other QBs In Draft Class

While speculation swirls around the Redskins' purported desire to select a quarterback at some point during the 2015 NFL draft, Robert Griffin III isn't sweating it.

“C’mon man,” Griffin said, via ESPN.com. “The way I look at it is as long as I’m here with the Washington Redskins and they say I’m the guy, then I’m the guy. I’m ready to go.”

Trade Possible If Leonard Williams Drops To #5

After signing Terrance Knight and Stephen Paea in free agency, the Redskins don't have a glaring need when it comes to the defensive trenches. Therefore, if blue-chip USC defensive line prospect Leonard Williams falls to the Redskins at #5, GM Scot McCloughan would consider making a deal with a team in need of impact help on their D-line.

"I would not hesitate because, like I said, we have to add good football players -- especially up front on both sides of the ball," he said, via NFL.com's Dan Hanzus. "But, it might bring a trade more into play if all of the sudden ... we do have to pick up our defensive front but also with Terrance, he's on a one-year contract, we've got to protect ourselves, and any time when you can get a good defensive lineman in the draft, you need to take him. They're very hard to come by."
