There was no corresponding move for the Washington Nationals when they placed Victor Robles on the 10-day IL on Saturday (5/23, retroactive to 5/20), with the right ankle sprain he suffered in Chicago last week.
Davey Martinez explained at the time that their late decision on Sunday afternoon did not allow the team to call somebody up in time for the series finale with the Baltimore Orioles.
“We made it super-late, so we couldn’t get nobody here,” Martinez said.
Robles, the skipper explained, had come in and not much had changed from previous days as they tried to avoid an IL stint.
