Washington Nationals’ lineup for series opener with San Francisco Giants in AT&T Park...

“It was big,” Los Angeles Dodgers’ manager Dave Roberts told reporters after winning two of three from the Washington Nationals at home in Chavez Ravine.

“That’s a good ballclub over there and we saw some good pitching in three games, and for us to win a series was big for us.”

“I do believe that we battled,” Nationals’ manager Davey Martinez said, as quoted by MASN’s Mark Zuckerman. “We competed. You’re looking at a Dodger team that’s really good. But we competed. We played all the way to [the] end there.”

Martinez’s squad had a shot at a three-game sweep of the New York Mets on the first stop on their nine-game, three-city road trip, which continues tonight in San Francisco, but the bullpen blew a late in the third game in NY.
