Eflin has been on a serious roll. He has a 1.93 ERA in his last three starts, striking out 17 and walking only three in 18 2/3 innings. Eflin is getting plenty of swings and misses, which is noteworthy because he has relied on contact in the past.
Roark summed it up shortly -- “I stunk today” -- after giving up four runs on eight hits in four innings Sunday, his shortest start of the season. He has been consistent other than that, tossing at least six innings in all but two of his 14 starts.
