QB Kyle Shurmur signed to the practice squad; Ryan Fitzpatrick expected to miss extended time

The Washington Football Team announced the signing of former Chiefs/Bengals QB Kyle Shurmur this morning. He went undrafted out of Vanderbilt in 2019 and was signed by the Kansas City Chiefs during their Super Bowl season.

He spent time on the Bengals practice squad late last season, and was signed to a reserve/futures deal this year. Shurmur was released during the preseason cuts, and has remained a free agent since. He is also the son of former New Giants Head Coach and current Denver Broncos Offensive Coordinator Pat Shurmur.

Shurmur was signed after Ryan Fitzpatrick's injury yesterday that was described as a hip subluxation.
