Morgan Moses was surprisingly released by the Washington Football Team in late May.

The long-time starting tackle became expendable after the team drafted Sam Cosmi and signed former Bears tackle Charles Leno Jr. in free agency. Ron Rivera confirmed as much in a press conference after the release.

“Nothing other than we’re just going in a different direction. We have an opportunity to get some young guys on the field,” Rivera said, per NBC Sports’ Ryan Holmer.
