Cowboys reach agreement with Mike McCarthy: Report

On Sunday, the Dallas Cowboys fired Jason Garrett. A day later, they settled on a new coach.

The Cowboys reached an agreement with former Green Bay Packers coach Mike McCarthy, according to multiple reports. McCarthy had spent the 2019 season out of football, but coached the Packers for 13 seasons, winning a Super Bowl in 2010.

Dallas first interviewed McCarthy Saturday.

The Cowboys are coming off a disappointing 8-8 season in which they failed to make the playoffs.

The Packers fired McCarthy in 2018 after a Week 13 loss to the Arizona Cardinals. Though he was successful with a 125-77-2 record, there were reports that the relationship between McCarthy and quarterback Aaron Rodgers had soured by the end of the coach’s tenure.
