Redskins Rumors: Redskins, Saints in running for free agent C Brian De La Puente

In Redskins rumors today, it looks as if the Washington Redskins have identified the guy they want to snap for franchise quarterback Robert Griffin III for years to come.

Now they have to wait and see if he wants them back.

According to Mike Triplett, ESPN NFL Nation reporter for the New Orleans Saints, the Washington Redskins are one of the finalists for the services of Saints free agent center Brian De La Puente--

The 28-year-old converted guard has spent the first three years of his NFL career with the New Orleans Saints, starting every game for the Saints over the past two seasons.

Brian De La Puente is considered by most analysts to be the second-best free agent center left on the market, behind Cleveland Browns free agent Alex Mack. He made just over $2 million during the 2013 season, and will most likely be expecting a relatively substantial pay increase to correlate with the durability he has been able to sustain.

Per Pro Football Focus, the Washington Redskins target was labeled as at fault for three quarterback hits, and three quarterback sacks during the 2013 NFL regular season.
