3 Things The Washington Redskins Must Do To Make The Playoffs

The Washington Redskins have been on the outside looking in at the NFL Playoffs dance for the past two seasons, but the pieces are in place for a major come-up in 2015. Here's 3 Things The Washington Redskins Must Do To Make The Playoffs.

1. Get Big Time Production Out Of Their Defensive Free Agents

The Washington Redskins' pass defense was one or two steps away from an all-out dumpster fire in 2014, finishing 24th in total thanks to a less-than-middling pass rush and an inability to force turnovers either through the air or on the ground. Washington took major steps to correct these deficiencies in free agency, latching onto DT Terrance Knighton, CB Chris Culliver and S Dashon Golson with the help of Daniel Snyder's checkbook(s). All three of those guys must produce, produce quickly and open up space for other defensive contributors to do work to help pull Washington's defense out of its 2014 funk.

2. Let Robert Griffin III Stabilize The QB Position

Robert Griffin III is still one of the most talented young quarterbacks in the league, injuries and inconsistencies aside. He's been given less than a fair shake sometimes with a multitude of problem areas around him, and the onus is on head coach Jay Gruden to push his chips to the center of the table and back RGIII through thick and through thin. A confident Griffin is a dangerous Griffin, and that's the key to transforming the offense into a playoff-caliber beast.

3. Go 5-1 In The Division

This may seem like a tall task with how deep the NFC East appears to be at first glance, but taking care of in-division business is the first step for any team looking to shed also-ran status. Remember the way we felt after that epic Monday Night Football victory in Dallas? Or the look on Chip Kelly's face when his Eagles pooped the bed late last season? The Redskins will need to get used to such conquests to emerge as a surprise NFC juggernaut in 2015.
