You can never count out the Washington Redskins when it comes to bold moves in the trade market, and the 2015 NFL Draft will provide plenty of options for the team if they decide to play ball. While we're not predicting these moves to happen (#3 is especially a long shot), here's three draft day trades that the Redskins could make.
1. Sending the #5 pick to Cleveland for a gaggle of picks (including a 2015 first-round swap [to #19] and a 2016 first-rounder)
NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport reported earlier this month that "the Redskins, who we know gave up all those picks to draft RG3, could wind up reaping some of those rewards of trading down at No. 5." If so, how nice would it be to blow a raspberry at Eagles HC Chip Kelly (and his fetish for anything and everything Oregon), sending the #5 pick to a QB-starved Cleveland Browns team staring ahead at a year of Josh McCown at quarterback.
2. Sending the #5 to Philly for the aforementioned gaggle of picks (swap to #20) plus one
...and there's always this. The Redskins would only OK such an in-division trade for two reasons: a) they're not buying Marcus Mariota as a star in the making (possible) & b) they get a chance to take the Eagles' lunch money, pension fund, and rainy-day savings in the form of a epic draft-pick haul.
3. Robert Griffin III to the Jets for a 2015 third-rounder
This is the most unlikely of the three scenarios, and it'd have to work out something like this -- Washington decides to either delay or not pick up RGIII's hefty $16 million 2016 option, picks Marcus Mariota at #5 (provided he's there), and then does some nifty negotiation work with a QB-starved Jets team. The Redskins would likely start by asking for a second-rounder, and then settle for a 3rd or a 4th -- not exactly a great return, but it's the best they're likely to get for the hot-then-cold RGIII in what essentially could be a walk year.
