The Washington Capitals announced they have re-signed Carl Hagelin to a four-year, $11 million contract extension. Hagelin was acquired by the Capitals at the trade deadline last season. The contract has an AAV of $2..75 million.
Hagelin, who will be 31 in August, had 11 points, three goals and eight assists, in 20 regular season games with Washington and had an assist in the Caps first round loss to Carolina.
Hagelin’s main contribution to the Caps last season was giving the Caps a much needed boost on the penalty kill.
Hagelin’s signing comes just days after the Caps traded Matt Niskanen, and his $5.
