Capitals add scoring depth with one-year deal for Conor Sheary

The Washington Capitals added scoring depth Tuesday, announcing the signing of forward Conor Sheary on a one-year, $735,000 contract.

In six NHL seasons, the 28-year-old left-hander has accumulated 72 goals and 78 assists. He has played most of his career with the Pittsburgh Penguins, joining the franchise after going undrafted. The Penguins traded Sheary in 2018 to the Buffalo Sabres, but he soon rejoined Pittsburgh midway through the 2019-20 campaign.

Sheary featured in four games for the Penguins during the NHL‘s Return-to-Play playoffs, notching two assists. He’s a two-time Stanley Cup champion with Pittsburgh, scoring six goals to go along with 15 assists in 61 postseason games.
