A slain Derby woman’s former partner was arrested Wednesday and charged with her murder, just three days after she was found stabbed and dumped on the side of a residential Ansonia street.

Andre LeFrancois, 22, was taken into custody at about 3:30 p.m. Wednesday afternoon and, a few hours later, the family of 20-year-old Rosali Violet Acquefreda praised investigators’ quick work to bring justice for the young mother and her and her 2-year-old son Eli.

“We just wanted to be a family and be away from anything [bad] and just be happy,” her father Joseph Francis Acquefreda Jr told reporters gathered for a news briefing Wednesday evening.
